Cool University
Cool University is the home of Rita's 5,000 square foot, state-of-the-art training center located in Bensalem, Pa.
At Cool University (a.k.a. “Cool U”), our franchise partners and Treat Team managers learn the art of happiness (not to mention how to successfully operate a store!) during an intensive series of onsite workshops, online courses and hands-on training.
“Cool U” attendees receive personalized, hands-on training from a dedicated team of Rita's Education and Training specialists. Not only do our franchise partners learn how to make our famous treats, they learn how to exceed guest service expectations and deliver the happiness that the Rita’s guest seeks. Our partners must “graduate” from Cool University to ensure that they have the tools they need to succeed – not only as a successful franchisee, but also as a steward for our “Ice, Custard and Happiness" brand promise.

The Cool U training facility also includes the Cool University Store, a fully-functioning Rita's retail location with inside seating and service that is open to the public year round. One of the biggest benefits of the Cool University Store (aside from its year-round hours!) is the mirrored experience our franchise partners receive, working with full time Treat Team members to gain valuable experience with Rita's guests. Aside from being a training facility, the Cool U Store also serves as a convenient site to test our research and development innovations with guests, who offer critical and compelling feedback to set the course for new product offerings.
The Cool University store is open to all Rita’s guests, and provides an excellent model of future Rita’s stores that feature inside seating for year-round happiness! The store is also home to some of the sweetest treats on earth and features a mouthwatering, 8 foot high model cup of our famous and delicious Cherry Italian Ice.
In addition to our Cool U training facilities and retail store, our franchise partners and Treat Team managers also train at one of our satellite Cool University Campuses - specially designated Rita’s locations throughout our system. At these Cool U Campuses, franchise partners and Treat Team managers work alongside seasoned franchise partners to gain hands on experience and insight in a store environment.
