(August 7, 2017) — Rita’s Italian Ice, the beloved brand known for serving up “Ice, Custard, Happiness,” is giving its fans yet another reason to celebrate this year — Frozen Custard for just 99 cents in honor of National Frozen Custard Day on August 8! If that isn’t enough to excite custard fans across the country, Rita’s is also announcing a new test store concept in select markets — Rita’s Italian Ice & Creamery — starring a rotating menu of new Hand-Scooped Frozen Custard, alongside Rita’s signature Italian Ice and other “cool treats.” Where available, two scoops of Hand-Scooped Frozen Custard will also be offered for 99 cents on National Frozen Custard Day.

As part of the executive leadership team at Rita’s, Levy will oversee integrated marketing and communication strategy and execution, as well as product development and innovation across the more than 600-unit franchise corporation, continuing to build the beloved brand by enhancing the guest experience.

A graduate of the Wharton School, Levy brings more than 30 years of diverse knowledge and experience in the food and consumer packaged goods industries. She spearheaded product launches and other major growth initiatives at some of the nation’s most well respected Fortune 500 companies in the industry, including Kraft Foods, Campbell Soup Company and Aramark. At Campbell, Levy led the team that launched Le Menu® frozen dinners, a $250 million breakthrough business, establishing her position as an expert in new product innovation and launches. During Levy’s tenure at Aramark, her team developed a new cost-effective system for providing fresh food service to mid-size corporate client locations. She also has extensive experience in the health and wellness industry, with notable past employers and clients including GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.

Levy most recently brought her passion and expertise to consulting, as CMO and Partner at Chief Outsiders, where she delivered cost-effective and efficient marketing services for clients. More than one million Rita’s guests from coast to coast will join in on the family-favorite tradition on Sunday, March 20 to snag their free Italian Ice as a fun way to usher in the new season.

As part of the springtime celebration, all guests who visit a Rita’s location on March 20 during operating hours will receive a free Italian Ice in a limited-edition First Day of Spring cup. Guests are encouraged to snap a photo of their “cool treat” and share it on Instagram and Twitter using #RitasFirstDayOfSpring to enter into the Rita’s First Day of Spring Photo Contest. All guests who use the hashtag from March 20-March 25 will be entered to win free Rita’s Italian Ice for a year. Quick Service Marketing Veteran, Robin Seward, Joins Rita’s as Chief Marketing Officer

 

TREVOSE, Pa. (January 21, 2015) – Rita’s Italian Ice, the world’s largest Italian Ice concept with more than 600 stores, named Robin Seward as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. Seward brings nearly 25 years of industry expertise to her new position and will head the development and execution of marketing strategies and research and development at Rita’s Italian Ice.

Seward’s impressive career includes leadership positions at quick-service and full-service restaurant giants such as Burger King Corporation, Carrabba’s Italian Grill and, most recently, Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc., where she served at the helm of the brand experience team as vice president of brand marketing. During her time at Arby’s, she pioneered a new brand positioning campaign, expanded social listening capabilities to improve interaction and crisis identification, and enabled the famous “Pharrell hat” tweet, which garnered considerable exposure for the brand.

Rita’s Italian Ice Donates $300,000 to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

RITA’S ITALIAN ICE DONATES $300,000 TO ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION TOWARD THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER

 Thousands of Rita’s Guests Contribute to 9th Annual Paper Lemon Fundraiser;
Since 2006 Rita’s has raised over $3.9 Million for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Trevose, PA, July 29, 2014 —Rita’s Italian Ice, the world’s largest Italian Ice concept, announced today it raised $300,000 for long-time partner Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), a national nonprofit dedicated to finding cures for all kids with cancer.  A check presentation will take place Wednesday, July 30th at 9:30 a.m. at Rita’s Cool Support Center, in Trevose, PA, with Liz & Jay Scott, Alex’s parents and Co-Executive Directors of ALSF, accepting the donation from Jeff Moody, Rita’s Chief Executive Officer.  Childhood cancer survivors and their hero families will be in attendance and will learn how to make and scoop Rita’s famous Italian Ice following the check presentation.

Throughout the month of June, thousands of guests from Rita’s locations across the country contributed to the fundraiser by adding their name to a paper lemon for $1. The paper lemons created a “Wall of Hope” at each store to demonstrate the local community’s support of ALSF, with the funds going toward Rita’s “Fund of Hope,” a travel fund endowment that will help families with children battling cancer travel to receive the treatment that can help save their lives. Rita’s has donated over $3.9 million throughout the past 9 years, including $300,000 this June.

“We’re proud to support ALSF and the fight against childhood cancer for our 9th year in a row,” said Jeff Moody, Chief Executive Officer, Rita’s. “The support toward ALSF from Rita’s Guests, Franchisees and Treat Team Members this past June was simply amazing, and I am thrilled to present ALSF with $300,000 on behalf of the entire Rita’s community.”

Since 2006, Rita’s has been a top corporate fundraising partner of ALSF with their system-wide annual paper lemon boyertownheadshavingevent2014campaign and other local fundraising initiatives.  Rita’s in Boyertown, PA, who has collectively raised over $117,000 over the years, held their 9th annual Head Shaving Event in June to honor children battling cancer (pictured left).  Rita’s in Rochester, NY raised over $50,000 this year alone, with help from their local community, and broke Rita’s record for highest annual store contribution to date.

In honor of the Foundation’s namesake, the late Alexandra “Alex” Scott, Rita’s renamed its Lemon Italian Ice flavor—“Alex’s Lemonade.”  Lemon, one of Rita’s original Italian Ice flavors is still one of the company’s most popular flavors today.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004).
